Learning Reflection

This is the last blog for this subject. I have new knowledge about Discourse Approach in Reading.Learning this course, it makes me understand to develop reading skills. I read better and faster, know the principles how to use on various matters. In learning there will be both easy and difficult chapter, the emotion that boring and fun, with both hot and cold. I was very lucky to study with a teacher and friends in this class. And finally I will tried to review the training and so on.

Problem and Solution continued

Today we learn Problem and Solution continued from last week. Teacher gave us corrective answer of our homework. After that, she gave a break and let us prepare videos to present her. This is our last day to learn A discourse Approach in Reading subject.

Problem and Solution


Today we learn about Problem and Solution. The teacher gave us the handout. After that, we read the Problem and Solution and she explained. She tell about problem marker and solution marker and assigned us to do skill practice by circle the Problem Markers and highlight the Solution Markers. Then write either Problem or Solution in the margin next to the relevant information. After we finished the exercise, teacher gave us the corrective feedback and she gave us homework. Next, teacher give us to read the text about machine gun. Then write the title, and the sentence explaining the main idea of the text.


I think this lesson is easy for me.

Exemplification

Today, we learned a new topic- Exemplification. This week I felt very hot because the air conditioner didn’t work. Teacher give handout to us, and explain that what is Exemplification: Exemplification writing uses specific, vivid example for the purpose of adding more information to explain, persuade, define, or illustrate a general idea. Next, teacher give us to read the text about College Student’s Pressures, after we read already she let us to do exercise, the teacher tell us to highlight the Exemplification marker, then she give us the corrective feedback. When I read the text I highlight the discourse marker, it helps us to understand the text easily. And we learned text 2 and text 3. Then teacher gave us a corrective feedback and asked us to do the last exercise. It was about complete the sentence by using the following word.


I think this lesson is not difficult, but it's boring, because the text so long.

Definition & Classification

On Monday, we learned a new topic about definition and classification. Teacher tell about the meaning of definition & classification and explain definition & classification marker. She told us about the score of midterm test, I was so surprised that I passed the exam. After that teacher gave us a sheet and started to learn. But today the air-conditioner is broken. It's so hot. Teacher give us try to do skill practice 1 and practice 2, she give us the corrective feedback and explain each item. The exercise was about circle the definition marker and underline the classification maker.

The next exercise was about read the text and draw a diagram.We read passage, find classification marker, and draw a diagram. The text was about Anthropology, we read the text to know the meaning of it. We read the text to know the meaning of it. And teacher give us to read the last text and do exercise.

I think this lesson was easy for me because the text was easy and easily to understand.

Cause and Effect

Today I don't have to study because byenior last night. In byenior I did a variety of activities which prepare for several days it at all makes me very tired.

Comparison and contrast

On Monday, we continued Comparison and Contrast start learning with teacher told us to talk and check the homework and let us checked the answer with friends and then she gave a corrective answer.

In text 2 is about hurricanes,Andrew and Katrina.Teacher let us read the text and find the definition of the words, find the same and different points and find the discourse markers from the text.

In text 3 is about Men and Women: Do they speak Language? and answer the question from the text . Exercise was about answer the question for understand the text.


And now it's time to did mid-term test




Homework

1. Do you agree with Tennen's view on the subject? 

- I think I agree with Tannen because men and women use different language. 

2. Are any of Tennen's point about the different personality of men and women true in your native culture? Explain
- Yes it is. I think that Thai men and women are very different. They have different ways to show how they feel.


I think This lesson is not difficult and midterm test is easier than quiz.  ^-^

Procedure continued & Comparison and contrast

Procedure continued & Comparison and contrast

We learn continued lesson that was procedure and started the new lesson was about Compare and contrast. The teacher give us to read the text and do exercise ; the exercise was about how to use toaster. She explain about the text and give us the corrective feedback.When we see words that we don't know the teacher will open the Cambridge dictionary to look up the meaning and pronunciation are corrects. Then she let us repeat. In new lesson by open the picture of fruit between apple and orange to tell the difference and similarities. She give us handout and give us read the text and complete the diagram. And finally, she give us the corrective feedback.

Procedure

The teacher teach a new lesson that was Procedure. Started with teacher asked us about how to cook the food and show the picture of food on the power point. After that she opened a video that is How to make perfect omelet from youtube and assigned us to write the word that we can hear in the video. we discussed about this and shared idea. Then teacher gave us a sheet and explain about the lesson. After that, teacher asked us to do the exercise and discuss with friends. teacher gave us a corrective feedback.After that, we organized the table for the quiz.


Today is easy, but quiz is very difficult.

Descriptive continued

Teacher came in class and checked a list of name. Today, we learn Descriptive lesson continued from last week. First teacher asked us to read the text about Komodo and asked us to answer the questions. she give us the corrective feedback.After that, we learned about place in the text is Budapest and answered the question.And the last text is describe about people.
Learning today's making fun of me because I know a new location. Everything in this lesson is very easy.

Narrative continued & Descriptive

Today we learn narrative lesson continues from yesterday. Teacher called Sittichai and Kittikarn to tell friends about learned yesterday.then, give us make group 3-4 people to tell the meaning of symbol from the The Secret. The teacher let us to draw a diagram for Kylie life and discuss about the diagram with friends.She teach the new lesson that is descriptive to students. She assigned us to make a group for four people to describe the picture on the projector screen.Next, she give the handout to us and give us to read text 1 it about Komodo Dragon.




Today was a fun, not boring. Although yesterday I didn't come here to learn, but teachers and friends explain to me. Learning about descriptive things make the lessons more interesting.

Narrative continued

Today, there is a make-up class. But today is holiday. I can't go to University because my attraction to the family. But I'm asking friends to University today? I know the teacher ordered the group to work in class. I feel very guilty that don't go to University. I'm sorry teacher.

Recount(continue) and Narrative

Today we start the lesson continue from last week. The teacher gave corrective feedback of homework that was exercise 3, exercise 4 and two exercises so teacher answered the questions. After she assigned us to work in group and summarize what is the text talking about “There were a woman and a boy. After finished presentation. We started new lesson that is Narrative. The teacher assigned us to put a cross with a pencil line, compare our pattern with our friend and talk about it that was similar or different. After that, the teacher assigned us to do some exercises.

Recount

Today, the air conditioner was broken but it's not a problem for me. We learn about kind of the recount. Next, teacher explain an example text “ Furious Pace in Hockey Final ” and explain about language features. 

I learned text organization, reorientation, events. 

After that, answer the questions.

I think underlining from the question of language features was easy because I listened the teacher said.

MY PAST EXPERIENCE

Last year. , I went to PATTAYA with my friends. We went by the van.

When we arrived, we went to buy a ticket to go to Koh-Lan. We cross by boat.

 when we get to Koh-Lan we call the hotel to get us. The hotel is cheap because we go a lot and it's clean, well service and big house. 

The weather was hot.We visited the island of Koh Larn.

It is a good time that I went out with friends during the summer.

On 9 January 2017, Before starting classes, the teacher instructors explained about classes. The teacher let us talk with classmates about vacations. I studied a discourse approach in reading.I learn about different genres of text include :

1. Cause / Effect

2. Definition

3. Problem solving 

4. Procedure

5. Classification

6. Comparison and Contrast

and I learn about discourse marker.

I think that this topic is not difficult for me because I can find the answer from a key word in the text but some word is I don’t know when I have a problem I will solve is to open the dictionary. My attitude for this lesson is I feel happy when I studied and this lesson is interesting.
